My husband bought me a sewing machine before I ever knew how to sew.
It sat in its box for years — unopened, untouched — one of those well-intended gifts waiting patiently for the right moment. That moment came unexpectedly, when my son decided he wanted to be a car wash for Halloween.

I opened the box, dusted off the instructions, and figured it out through a plethora of YouTube tutorials. (By the way, my son was not a car wash that year but I did make a handful of really cute key fobs.)
I didn’t know it then, but that small, ordinary moment would change everything.
What started as a practical solution quickly became a creative outlet. Sewing key fobs and tote bags turned into stitching up children's clothing. Children's clothing turned into quilting. Quilting turned into a passion. And before long, fabric had quietly woven itself into our family’s everyday life.

I began selling from my home — slowly, intentionally — learning as I went. Each order, each conversation, each connection confirmed what I was starting to feel: this wasn’t just about fabric. It was about creating something meaningful.
Seven years later, we took a leap of faith and purchased our first brick-and-mortar storefront in downtown Groveton, Texas.
Moving to Groveton was more than a business decision — it was a lifestyle choice. We traded the rush of city life for a slower pace, a tighter community, and the chance to build something rooted and real. Apothecary Fabrics became not just a shop, but a gathering place — a space for creativity, conversation, and connection.
Today, our family lives in the back of our historic building, with the shop up front — a reflection of how closely life and work are intertwined here. We believe in doing things thoughtfully, supporting makers at every stage, and creating a welcoming place where everyone feels comfortable walking through the door.
